3D Human Body Scans Smartphone solution
Nepox software enables the creation of a 3D body scan simply with a user’s smartphone, using the phone’s gyro, accelerator calculator and movement to optimise data collection.
The data is then automatically compressed to be transferred in raw form to cloud systems for processing. In cloud we use pretrained algorithms on GPU enabled machines to group the data into a scaled 3D reconstruction of the scanned person. AI are used to predict a person’s skeletal structure, adding joints to enable model movement with lifelike precision. 3D body scans are compared with real data from learning images allowing the algorithm to predict the movement of any body shape in any pose.
The pre-trained algorithms are able to fill in parts of the body which cameras miss, creating an extremely detailed and complete rendition of the scanned person. In fact, we only require 90-95% of the body to be captured as the pre-trained algorithms are able to fill in missing parts of the body based on the data scans already given.
The enterprise solution is offered in two formats.
- The first solution is, within 2 weeks, the adaptation of a traditional fitting rooms into a dual use fitting room and 3D human body scanning cubicle.
- The second solution is the availability of an increased quality handheld depth camera.
Both enterprise solutions offer in store customer 3D body scans as a ready, accessible business option, depending on client needs.
The use of either solution then follows similar steps. Data of a customer’s body are recorded and processed either with the use of local GPU enabled machines or cloud computing services. As in the smartphone solution, pretrained algorithms group parts of the body to build an accurate virtual prediction of the subjects 3D form. The use of skeleton estimation adds structure to the body, giving lifelike qualities such as estimation of movement or pose.
The 3D model is then compressed to a transferable data size for use on any web accessible device. Customers are able to view their personal 3D models in a video or vector format on any internet connected device.
Virtual fitting room
The virtual fitting room is the virtual space where users can access their cloud stored 3D models. Catalogues of clothing and apparel are loaded from real 3D fashion brands millimetric data sets from 3D design compatible software such as Marvelous.
Rendering of real fashion items will help customers see exactly how clothing would fit them, brining traditional dressing rooms into the private and comfort of the consumer’s home. With advanced virtual reality physics rendering, and pretrained algorithms computing cloth simulation, a garment’s precise qualities will be transferred from cloud services into the virtual fitting room.
Outfits and looks are also transferable as video or vector depending on the device capability, also making them shareable with social media accounts.
Optional features will include virtual fitting room customisation, allowing it to be furnished and decorated by the customer to show them a model of themselves in a situation fitting a reality they wish to view.
The Virtual Stylist
We also have developed virtual stylist, (Mobile / AI Shopping Assistant) to act as a virtual stylist based on a customer’s fit, likes and dislikes.
The virtual stylist provides a personal stylist to all of our customers helping them look exactly the way they want.
Taking real measurements from already existing brand clothing datasets will allow for much more accurate sizing and recommendations. The virtual stylist takes brand sizings, the textures and qualities of different materials and colouring to recommend clothing that will suit a customer in line with their own tastes. The stylist can also help a customer see the new styles, products and seasonal clothing, keeping them up to date.
Nepox solutions bring three advantages to the fashion sector. The first is to reduce the return rate of online shopping. Using the virtual fitting room and 3D body scan, will accurately and realistically be able to see how a garment suits them.
The second innovation is increasing shopping efficiency as customers are able to try on apparel as quickly as cloud data is transferred to their device with enhanced virtual shopping experiences
Third, the unreliability of traditional e-shopping makes it unsustainable and with the ice caps melting so quickly the ways in which we shop has to change. Transportation is now the largest producer of carbon dioxide emissions and with the demand for fast deliveries half empty trucks are driving fashion items right up to people’s doors. Nepox is offering a way to reduce the environmental impact of the current fashion industry, creating green solutions.
